I am always keen to find new and interesting ways to capture light with my DSLR as experimentation can often lead to breakthroughs in creativity.

By only half-fastening the vertical toggle on my tripod the camera would slowly fall from it’s horizontal position after giving it a nudge when triggering the shutter. A slow shutter speed then produces the vertical lines in the image.

I experimented with this technique quite a lot and Image: 3 is one of my favourites.

The same scene but this time I loosened the horizontal toggle on the tripod and gradually moved the camera right to left with my hand. The resulting image reminds me of the planetary ring systems surrounding Saturn and Uranus.
